Balfron Eco Festival took place on Saturday 11 June between 11am and 4pm at various locations around the village. Details of the different activities and their locations can be found below. Food Producers and Sellers

Selection of producers from Neighbourfood Balfron selling bread, cheese, herbs, chillies, chutneys and preserves.
Local Makers

Small businesses who make and sell items including jewellery, accessories, cushions art pieces and recyclable wrapping paper.
Pre-Loved Uniform Shop

The Balfron Clothing Company will have quality pre-loved uniforms for pupils of the High School available for you to buy. There will also be pre-loved uniform for Balfron Primary School available for you to buy.
Refreshments

Base Pizza will be selling their traditional artisan pizzas from their pop up Ooni pizza ovens.
Balfron Primary Parent Council will be serving tea, coffee, soft drinks in reusable bottles and a selection of homebaking.

Powering the Future Exhibition is an exciting suite of interactive exhibits where expert staff will guide you to explore the choices we all face in having energy that is affordable, secure and environmentally sustainable.
Home Energy Scotland

Talk to advisers who can offer advice on energy saving measures and use of renewable technologies in your home. They will also have information on interest free loans for purchasing electric bikes and electric cars.

In conjunction with Scottish Water there will be advisers to discuss with you how to use and apply for water saving devices such as showerhead attachments and a tap aerator.

Take a ride in an electric trishaw, which are used to give participants including elderly and disabled people access to the beautiful outdoors.
Country Cycles

Local cycling business Country Cycles will be available to share their advice and knowledge on choosing the right bike for your needs. They will also be sharing their expertise on maintaining your bike.
Eco Opera
Natural Environment
Enjoy the unique immersive experience of Eco Opera, which features musical instruments ‘played’ by wind, rain and animals. It uses innovative techniques to amplify normally inaudible noises. Everyday sounds are transformed into musics.

Seed Library

Visit this popular local project which can be found in community venues in Balfron, Killearn, Fintry and Drymen. The seed library allows you to access free seeds to grow your own produce or wildflowers at home. It also encourages people to donate their unused seeds to create a bank of seeds that can be shared amongst the community.
Plant Sale and Swap
Natural Environment
Browse a range of perennials, annuals or varieties of fruit & veg plants and seedlings to swap or buy for a small cash donation. Local volunteers will be on hand to share advice and pass on their gardening tips.
Planting Pollinators

Get involved in potting up seedlings of popular varieties of annuals that pollinating insects will love. You’ll be able to take your potted plant home to enhance your outside space whether its a garden, path or window sill.
Bokashi Composting

If you are a keen, green gardener and are seeking to improve your soil, plants and crop yields in an organic way then come along to find out more about this composting system with local resident Dr. Jo Noblett.

Book your place on this guided walk which will visit locations around Balfron to spot wildlife and become a citizen scientist as you plot your findings using the iNaturalist app.

Endrick Encounters River Walk

Join local groups Balfron Pathways, Balfron Heritage and Loch Lomond Fisheries Trust for a guided walk along a short stretch of the River Endrick to hear how over 200 years ago the river ‘made’ Balfron. Discover why the river is now a ‘special’ place for wildlife.
